ALLSORTS 14 v UNST 25

Both teams went on the court ready for the first game of the season. Unst settled into the game quicker than Allsorts which meant defence Kayleigh Young and Chloe Howarth had to work hard to stop shooters Claire Priest and Marie Robertson however Unst’s passes were stronger and they took the lead with the first quarter ending 8-2.

Allsorts were keen to close the gap with their defence team of Emma Shewan and Terri Malcolmson worked well with centre Chloe Howarth and WA Hannah Wright to move the ball up to shooters Rachel Young and Melanie Tulloch but Unst’s defence of Ailidh Risk and Linda Thomson intercepted many passes and got the rebounds to maintain their lead. The second quarter finished 12-5.

The third quarter saw changes on both teams with Unst’s Alana Johnson coming on to shoot. Unst’s Chelsea Jamieson getting lots of their centre passes from Irena Polson to get the ball up to the shooters helped Unst increase their lead again to 18-9.

The final quarter saw both teams tiring but Allsorts were determined to try close the gap in the score but Unst didn’t allow this and kept their lead winning the game 25-14.
