McEwans settled into the game quickly with a few consecutive goals from Mairi Polson. Challengers started to find their feet and some good linking play from Holly Jamieson at wing attack and Valerie Sales at goal attack helped them close the gap. The quarter finished 12-8 in McEwans favour.

The second quarter saw some good defensive play from McEwans with Ellie Sutherland at goal keep making it difficult for Challengers to find the net. Strong play through the court saw McEwans edge ahead, ending the quarter 24-12.

The second half started with more determination from Challengers players to try to close the gap. With Challengers forced to play their shooters in defence, they gritted teeth and dug deep. Lots of end to end play resulting in Challengers gaining more goals, however this did not phase McEwans and they pulled ahead leaving the score at 35-22 in favour of the McEwans going into the final quarter.

The last quarter started with McEwans changing up players to aid their play and widen the gap. This worked in their favour and Challengers struggled to use this to their advantage. Two Whalsay teams playing in Whalsay meant no team was giving up and both worked tiredness right to the final whistle. McEwans came out on top with a score of 45-27. Players of the match were Ellie Sutherland for McEwans and Valerie Sales for Challengers.
