Challengers 37 V 29 Mishaps
The first quarter started with quick play from both teams as they settled into the game. Challengers defenders Abbey Irvine (GD) and Maria Sales (GK) worked well to keep the ball away from Mishaps shooters and helped move the play up the court to Challengers shooters Danielle Johnson (GS) and Valerie Sales (GA). Despite Mishaps defenders Elaine (GK) and Vicky Anderson (GD) working hard to intercept passes into the circle and get every rebound the first quarter finished 10-8 to Challengers.
The second quarter saw good defence and accurate shooting from both teams. The quarter was fast paced with quick movement from the centre court players moving the ball up their shooters. The second quarter finished 18-14 to Challengers.
The third quarter started with both teams fighting for possession of the ball. Challengers defenders worked tirelessly making it difficult for Mishaps shooters to get close to the net, however this did not phase them and we saw some excellent shooting. Any interceptions made by Challengers defenders was quickly moved up the court by Sarah Groat (C) and Holly Jamieson (WA) to the shooters leaving Challengers in the lead at the end of the third quarter 28-22
With only 6 goals in it, the final quarter saw both teams determined to take victory. Challengers managed to maintain their lead despite strong defending and good interceptions from Mishaps. The game finished 37-29. Players of the match were Valerie Sales for Challengers and Morgan Henderson for Mishaps.
