Delting 24 v McEwans 27

McEwans took first centre but Delting did not make it easy for them with both teams having some good interceptions. Delting’s GA Rhona Clark and GS Krissie Robertson worked well together in the circle supported by WA Lily Rendall and C Ashley Hay. However, McEwan’s WA Eileen Robertson and C Nicola Polson dominated the central third. The first quarter finished 7 – 7.

The 2nd quarter was much the same with plenty of interceptions from both teams. Delting’s GD Hannah Laurenson and GK Jenna Mowat defended the circle really well managing to intercept a number of McEwan’s goals and get them out of the circle. McEwan’s WD Amber Paton and WA Eileen Robertson had some fantastic interceptions in the central third although Delting’s WD Carrie Coutts didn’t make it easy for them.

The 3rd quarter saw McEwans quick off the mark but after a hard-fought battle with the ball travelling up and down the court a number of times, it was Delting who took the goal. McEwan’s really ramped up the pace through the quarter and scored 4 goals in quick succession giving them a more definitive lead. GS Joanne Stewart and GD Emily Henderson really kept Delting’s defence on their toes. Score 15 – 20 to McEwans.

The final quarter saw Delting coming back with a bang, scoring the first goal. The play was evenly matched for most of the quarter. Delting managed to slowly catch up to McEwan’s however the defending by C Amber Paton, GD Diane Manson and GK Laura Polson was phenomenal.

Final score was 24 – 27 to McEwans. Delting player of the match was Ashley Hay. McEwan’s player of match was Amber Paton.
