Dutch Courage 20 V 44 Wastside
The first quarter saw Wastside start strong with great play from Courtney Young (WA) and Mhari Drozdowska (GA). Dutch courage Centre Carla Johnson linked well with Anja Leslie (WA) to feed the ball to shooters Sadie Meadows (GS) and Aaliyah Leask (GA). Wastside took the first quarter 10-7.
The Second quarter saw both teams starting strong and eager to get the ball to the shooters. DC made some changes by putting Sadie Meadows to GK and Vanessa Mainland to GS. Some fantastic long shots by DC shooters saw the close the gap. There was good linking from Wastside Erica Mikolajczak WA and Julie Crossan C which gave Wastside the lead at the end of the quarter 21-12.
The third quarter again started with good strong passes from both teams. Great feeding from Alexis Jamieson (WA) to DC shooters. Tight defending from Brownwen Walterson (GD) and Shona Hunter (GK) made DC work harder to get the ball to the shooters. Accurate shooting from Wastside’s Erin Morrison (GS) and Drozdowska (GA) ensured that DC had to work hard to turn over and intercept when they could. Wasdtide continued to pull ahead going in to the final quarter 31-17.
The last quarter started with a determined Wastside who were eager to extend their lead. Excellent shooting from both teams with some impressive shoots. With DC’s defence Mainland (GK) and Sonja Jamieson (GD) and Anja Leslie (WD) working tirelessly to gain any rebounds when they could. The game ended with Wastside taking the win 44-20. Players of the match were Vanessa Mainland (GK/GS) for Dutch courage and Erin Morrison for Wastside.
