Dutch Courage 4 – Scallywags 54
Scallywags won the toss up for the first centre. Both teams fought hard to open scoring but Scallywags took the first goal. Scallywags quickly settled into the game, converting their own & Dutch Courage’s centres to goals. Thus giving them a significant lead by the end of the first quarter at 14 – 1.
The second quarter saw strong and careful passing between Scallywags Ami Maddison (C) and Anne Leask (WA). Dutch courage kept fighting to intercept, with a special mention to their strong GD, Laura Sinclair.
The Scallywags dominance continued into the final two quarters, despite the best efforts of Dutch Courage. The third quarter saw Dutch Courage’s second goal come from their brand new shooter, Nia McLean. A nice goal from the edge of the circle! Scallywags didn’t give up, considering their large lead, Anja Kurtz (GA) and Alana Smith (GS) worked well together to secure this.
The final quarter saw Scallywags linking up well to push the ball down to their shooter Anne-Marie Robinson. Dutch Courage tried to keep their attack and defence strong with powerful passes and interceptions from their mid court team Carla Johnson (C) Gemma Leask (WD) and Alexis Jamieson (WA). Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough and the game finished 54-4 to the well-deserved, Scallywags. Player of the match were Anja Kurtz for Scallywags and Carla Johnson for Dutch Courage.
