Hotfooters 21 V McEwans 23

Hotfooters won the first centre pass but a slow start from both sides saw the first goal only after a few minutes. Emily Henderson’s GS accurate shooting got Da McEwans on the scoresheet, followed quickly by Niamh Paton GS for Hotfooters. End to end play kept the score even with both teams working hard for possession. McEwans edged slightly ahead by the whistle despite gaining interceptions from Ellie Bisset GK and Kirstin Grant GD.

The second quarter started 6-4 to McEwans and the pace quickly picked up with Kayleigh Irvine C and Eileen Robertson WA linking well. However, Hotfooters took control of the game with short, fast controlled passes which saw them linking well as a team from Isla Murphy WD through to Eve Fraser C and Kara Grant WA up to the edge of the circle where shooters Shaina Douglas GA and Niamh Paton GS found the net, giving Hotfooters the edge by half time at 12-10.

A few half time changes saw Emily Henderson move to GA and and Joanne Stewart to GS as well as Amber Paton coming on at C for McEwans. Jodie Kerfoot came back on at WA for Hotfooters. The first goal came in seconds with Eve Fraser quickly passing up to Shaina Douglas who slotted it home. Short, concise passing again by Hotfooters, piling the pressure onto McEwans but the formidable defence of Ellie Sutherland GD and Diane Manson GK were making it very difficult for Hotfooters shooters to find the net resulting in the gap being closed to 16-15 to Hotfooters.

Entering the final quarter, Mc Ewans came out looking to gain back control. Both teams fought hard, making steals in both circles to keep the ball in play but the accurate shooting from Emily and Joanne edged McEwans just ahead in the closing minutes to a final score of 23-21 to Da McEwans. Player of the Match for McEwans was Joanne Stewart and Niamh  Paton for Hotfooters.
