Johnson Jaguars 18 V 25 Yell

Jaguars took the first centre and settled quickly into the match. Jaguars C Jemima Budge keeping up with Yell’s Amber Inkster feeding the ball to Kelsea Blades WA and onto Megan Nicolson GA. Their play paid off with the first quarter finishing 4-3 to Jaguars.

Into the second quarter Yell had a few changes with Lesley Strachan coming on as C and Jasmine Lawson as GA. Yell’s Sandra Petrie at WA kept the ball moving into the circle despite efforts from Jessica Irvine WD for Jaguars. Jaguars kept the pressure on but the good team work from Carly Smith GS and Jasmine Lawson GA proved Yell the stronger team – quarter finishing 14-9 to Yell.

The third quarter showed no easier for Jaguars with Yell’s defence team Kerry Nicholson and Malin Leslie sticking tight. Despite this Jemima Budge worked along with Kelsea Blades to get the ball back to Jags with some lovely shots from Megan Nicolson and Rachel Young. The quarter ended 19-13 to Yell.

The last quarter saw a few more changes in both teams with Sophie Morris coming on as GK for Jags and Lesley Strachan changing to GK for Yell. Play from both teams started to weaken with tired legs but Jaguars Kayleigh Young and Nicole Mouat put in all efforts to gain back any points. The game ended 25-18 showing Yell to be the stronger team. Players of the Match were Megan Nicolson for Jaguars and Amber Inkster for Yell.
