Johnson Jaguars 32 V Scallywags 25
It was a strong start for Scallywags with their midcourt players Rowan Nicolson and Anne Leask working well to get the ball up to their shooters Aleisha Devine and Anja Kurtz. Jaguars GK Kayleigh Young and GD Freya Leslie worked well together to defend their attackers and get the rebounds however it was Scallywags who took the lead ending the first quarter 7-2.
The second quarter kicked off with some strong play from Jaguars midcourt. Caitlin Munro and Kayleigh Rankin worked well together to bring the ball up the court to shooters Rachel Young and Sophie Morris. Scallywags kept pushing back with their defenders Ella Robertson and Ami Maddison intercepting the ball as it made its way up the court. However Jaguars shots were on target and managed to even up the scores ending the second quarter 12 each.
The third quarter saw some strong defending from Jaguars who intercepted many passes and got the ball up to their shooters. Scallywags were keen to take back the lead with their midcourt players switching positions, however some good circle work from Jaguars attack saw them finishing the third quarter 23-20.
The final quarter saw both teams tiring but Jaguars were keen to maintain their lead. Jaguars midcourt players pushed continuously with WD Jemima Budge and Leslie intercepting and working the ball up to their shooters. Scallywags defence continued to work tirelessly to try to intercept the ball however Jaguars missed very few shots and ended the game 32-25. Players of the match were Rachel Young for Jaguars and Ami Maddison for Scallywags.
