Kiwis 31 Kinetics 2

(Half time score. Fair play rule was used for remainder of the game.)

Kiwis got off to a quick start with Dawn Manson showing accurate shooting from the get go. A good interception from Karen Mackay in the mid court won the ball back for Kiwis however with determined defending from Shannon Stevenson in the Kinetics defence, Kiwis had to work hard to add to the score board again. Youngster Tegan Hendran showed good grit at goal shooter for Kinetics but the Kiwis defence of Kim Johnson and Maosoe Unsworth were not making life easy in the circle. Manson and Rhianne Johnson at the other end had found good rhythm and with accurate feeds from Zoey Symington and Mackay were sinking their shots. Krissi Sandison and Karen Mackay were making each other work hard in the centre position with good competitive play but Kiwis were proving too strong in the end managing to end the quarter with a convincing lead of 16-1.

Kiwis came into the second quarter as they had finished the first with Kim Johnson giving an accurate long range feed into her shooter. Both team showed some creative movement and strong passing throughout the court. Despite some tight defending from Ella Henderson and Stevenson the Kiwis shooters were shooting well from range and luck was perhaps on their side when an ‘accidental’ shot from Manson sailed through the hoop! Natalie Steven’s and Johnson were working well together in the defensive circle for Kiwis restricting Kinetics to just the 1 goal again. The score at half time was 31-2 to Kiwis.

At this stage it was agreed to play out the remainder of the game using the ‘fair play’ rule. Player of the match was Ella Henderson for Kinetics and Kim Johnson for Kiwis
