Kiwis 38 V Ness 27

Kiwis took to the court with the first centre. There was scrappy passing from both teams as they settled into the game however fast movement from Kiwis shooters Zoey Symington (GA) and Dawn Manson (GS) saw Kiwis score the first goal. Ness fought tirelessly for every ball and saw Tahlia Leslie (GA) moving well in the shooting circle with good support from Aimee Budge (C). Ness managed to turn the play over in their favour several times with Aimee Budge making great interceptions. The first quarter ended with a close score of 8-7 to Kiwis.

The second quarter saw Kiwis starting strong and applying great pressure in defence. Lauren Smith (WD) made some crucial interceptions while Karen Mackay (GK) and Brenda Leask (GD) were marking tight and forcing errors. Equally Ness defence worked tirelessly against Kiwis shooters however Kiwis managed to pull ahead this quarter leaving the score at 19-14 at half time.

Kiwis made a few changes to the team to start the 2nd half. Rhianne Colvin came on at GS and Sanna Aitken (C) and Kylie Wood (WA) swapped positions. Both teams were tiring this quarter which was highlighted by some scrappy passing. Ness GA Tahlia continued to work hard in the shooting circle however being forced to take long range shots, enabled Kiwis defence to catch rebounds and turn over play. The score at the end of the third quarter was 28-20 to Kiwis.

The final quarter saw calmer play by Kiwis, in particular shooters Zoey and Rhianne who also displayed great team work and movement in the circle. Shooters from both teams scored some fantastic long range shots this quarter. Karen Mackay made great interceptions in the defending circle with Sanna and Kylie linking well to move the ball up to the shooting circle. Kiwis managed to pull ahead this quarter leaving the final score at 38-27 to Kiwis. Players of the match were Karen Mackay for Kiwis and Ruth Christie for Ness.
