Loungers 33 V 23 Whalsay

The 1st quarter started with some lovely passing up the court by the Loungers team.  Whalsay GK Lara Kay worked tirelessly around the circle picking up all rebounds, making it difficult for Loungers to score.  Super defence from Loungers forced Whalsay to make lots of passes around the circle.  However, Debbie Irvine was undeterred, producing some lovely long range shots.  Loungers held the lead, ending the quarter 9-6.  

The 2nd quarter saw careful and controlled passing between the Loungers attack, scoring first.  Steady play between the Whalsay players allowed them to stay controlled, and with some lovely passing into the circle by Irena Polson, Whalsay kept the score tight.  However, towards the end of the quarter, Loungers managed to edge ahead, ending 16-11. 

The 3rd quarter started evenly, with goal to goal play.  Super interception from Kirsten Keay kept the ball in the Loungers end for another goal.  Great shooting from Whalsay Ellie Sandison kept the Loungers defence on their toes.  Super pressure down the court from Diane Thompson for Loungers ensured Loungers keep their lead.  The quarter ended 24-15. 

Strong defence from both teams at the start of the quarter lead to the first goal scored by Whalsay 3 minutes in. Good patience from the Whalsay attackers around the circle.  Loungers shooters Kaitlin Leslie and Jodie Walterson worked well together increasing the lead for Loungers.  Whalsay GD Liane Jamieson offering great support on the line to their attackers.  Kaitlin scoring a last second goal led Loungers to win 33-23. Player of the match for Whalsay went to Lara Kay and Louise Birnie for Loungers.
