Loungers 44 V 22 Filsket

Loungers 44 V 22 Filsket

Loungers started strong in the first quarter, with Claire Johnston at GD making lots of interceptions in the circle.  Play was calm by both sides, quietly working the ball up the court.  Filsket’s centre Vhairi Graham worked hard around the circle, feeding good passes into Brooke Leslie to shoot.  However, Loungers defence were able to pick up any rebounds, allowing the score to widen, ending 12-3.

The 2nd quarter started slowly, with both teams making a few unforced errors.  Good rebounds from Jodie Walterson at GS helped Loungers to settle into the game and continue to pull ahead.  However, the Filsket defence worked tirelessly around the circle, and with an excellent interception from Kristen Jeromson passed quickly up the court by Ann-Marie Goudie, this was turned into a lovely goal.  Loungers Kaitlin Leslie retaliated with some excellent long range shots, allowing Loungers to take the quarter 27-9.

Kayti Jeromson moved to GA for Filsket in the 3rd quarter.  This, coupled with the first centre pass stolen from Loungers, gave Filsket a quick goal.  Good movement around the circle from Loungers shooters gave them the next 2 goals.   Tight defence from both teams meant that the ball went up and down the court a number of times before Loungers broke the deadlock.  Filsket fought back, with some good movement around the circle from Kayti Jeromson.  The quarter ended 33-17.

Accurate passing into the shooters from Vicki Smith and Diane Thomson saw Loungers open the lead.  Loungers defenders continued to work hard, cleaning up the Filsket unforced errors.  Filsket continued to fight for every ball, with super shooting from Brooke Leslie.  However, Loungers had a lead that Filsket were unable to narrow.  The game ended 44-22 to Loungers. Player of the match went to Brooke Leslie for Filsket, and Jodie Walterson for Loungers.
