Loungers 44 V AHS 26

First game back for the teams after the Christmas break meant a number of unforced errors from both teams. AHS were first to settle and capitalise on Loungers errors as they took an early lead. Loungers began to take control as their players started to link well through the court bringing the scores all even. The teams were matching each other goal for goal before an injury in the AHS team led to a few team changes. This allowed Loungers to pull ahead with the first quarter ending 11-7 to Loungers.

With AHS still adapting to their team changes Loungers forged ahead with Ellie Spence feeding her shooters accurately and Kaitlin Leslie shooting well for Loungers. Sally Sandison was stamping her authority at GD for Loungers in the AHS shooting circle picking up any loose balls and rebounds. Loungers increased their lead to finish the quarter 25-11.

AHS came back on to court with a new determination making it a very evenly matched quarter. AHS were strong on the break with great work in mid court from Kirsty Thomson linking attack and defence. Jodie Walterson was unstoppable in the AHS shooting circle with her fast movement and great long range shooting. Loungers had to dig deep and up their game taking the third quarter by only two goals and holding on to their lead 35-19.

The teams were working hard in the last quarter with players fighting for every loose ball. Loungers circle defenders Sally Sandison and Claire Johnston were making it very difficult for the AHS attack to feed balls in to their shooters but Ruth Morris was patient and timed her feeds well. Loungers Louise Birnie provided great support through the court and Stella Oldbury was shooting well and rebounding any missed shots. Loungers defended well in the final quarter to hold their lead and take the win 44-26. Well done to AHS player Abby Sandison for playing on in a not so familiar position after her injury. Players of the match were Claire Johnston for Loungers and Jodie Walterson for AHS.
