Loungers 49 V AHS 33

The start of the match was frantic for both teams, resulting in end to end play. GS Stella Oldbury and GA Ava Johnston communicated well in the shooting circle, helping Loungers to settle and gain an early lead. AHS continued to work hard to get possession back. GK Astri Balfour read the flow of play well, gaining many interceptions for AHS, but Loungers held onto their lead to end the first quarter 17-3.

Loungers continued to apply pressure in the second quarter. GK Jennifer Thomson and GD Louise Moar worked well as a unit and gained any rebounds. AHS responded well to the pressure and started to find their rhythm. C Abby Sandison and WD Eve Wiseman worked well defensively in mid court, where they managed to force errors from Loungers. The half time score was 31-11.

After a frantic first half, AHS started the third quarter more settled and with more control. They were quick to get the ball to the attacking end where GS Jodie Walterson and GA Imogen Teale were slotting in long-range shots with ease. Lounger’s WA Beth Mouat and C Hazel Johnson worked hard to provide lots of attacking options for their team, as well as getting interceptions in the middle third. However, it was AHS who won this quarter to narrow the gap to 41-24.

AHS started strong in the final quarter, scoring the first couple of goals to unsettle Loungers. However, Loungers linked well together as a team and maintained their early lead to win the match 49-33. Players of the match were Jennifer Thomson for Loungers and Jodie Walterson for AHS.
