McEwans 45 V 21 Delting
Both teams started strong in the first quarter. It was very close with fast end to end play and excellent shooting from Erin Hunter and Hannah Williamson for Delting and Mairi Polson and Kirsty Porter for Da McEwans. The score remained close going into the second quarter with Da McEwans edging ahead 12-10.
Da McEwans started to put on the pressure in the second quarter. Nicola Polson and Jenny Jamieson were dominant in midcourt. They were linking up well to get the ball up to shooters Polson and Porter who were rarely missing despite the best efforts of Delting defenders Nala Williamson and Jenna Mowat. This gave McEwans the lead going in to the third quarter 25-12.
Da McEwans continued to press ahead in the third quarter with good defensive play from Faye Anderson, Ellie Sutherland and Catherine Irvine. Delting’s Hannah Williamson and Ashley Pearson worked tirelessly in the midcourt but they were unable to maintain possession, mainly due to vital interceptions made by Jamieson and Polson. Da McEwans pulled ahead 34-15 by the end of the third quarter.
Going into the last quarter, Da McEwans had a convincing lead but Delting didn’t give up. Their midcourt of Holly Stephen and Jessie Clubb were working hard to get the ball to Hunter who was having a good game at GA. However, Da McEwans continued to press as a team and make it difficult for Delting. Da McEwans came away with the win 45-21. Players of the match were Jenny Jamieson for Da McEwans and Erin Hunter for Delting.
