Scallywags 22 V 24 Kinetics
Scallywags started the game with the first centre pass and with accurate passing they opened the scoring with a goal from Aleisha Devine GS in her first game back for Scallywags. Devine went on to score a further 2 goals in a row before Kinetics got their first goal. Play was very scrappy to begin with from both teams until they began to settle. Kinetics were soon to get back into the game with fantastic shooting from Maisie Ramsay GA and Lucy Thomson GS which saw them bring the score to 5-5 with 5mins remaining. Scallywags Devine had to go off due to an injury which saw Erin Leask coming on as GS. With both teams fighting hard, the first quarter ended 9-7 to Kinetics.
Kinetics started the second quarter with the first centre pass but a quick interception from Scallywags saw them steal the ball but it was not long until Kinetics got it back, moving play up into their shooters who then found the net with a goal. Scallywags shooters of Devine and Ami Maddison were having to work really hard to make space in their circle to convert their shots into goals, as Kinetics defence of Louise and Ciara Kelly were not making it easy for them. As the quarter progressed, Kinetics were working well together and with accurate shooting from Ramsay and Thomson, they finished the quarter ahead 16-10.
Both teams made changes at half time and Scallywags knew they had their work cut out for them if they were to close the gap in the scoring. Kinetics continued their strong play from the second quarter and Scallywags were having to fight hard for every pass, interception and rebound. Kinetics defence of the Kelly sisters were making it very hard for Scallywags shooters of Devine and Leask to find the net. Play was a bit scrappy at times but with the accurate shooting from Kinetics Ramsay and Thomson, this saw them finish the quarter 20-12.
Scallywags once again made a few changes to their team to see if they could do anything to bring back the gap in the scoring. As play started, both teams came on determined to get that win and this saw a very fast, action paced quarter with great end to end play. Scallywags defence of Ella Robertson and Rhea Isbister were marking Kinetics shooters of Ramsay and Thompson very tightly, making it hard for them to convert their shots into goals. At the other Scallywags shooters of Maddison and Devine were working really well together in the circle to create space to convert their shots into goals despite being closely marked by Kinetics Jamieson and Johnson in defence. Scallywags worked really hard in this quarter and this saw Maddison get the final goal for them before the final whistle went. Kinetics just managed to hold onto their lead and this saw them win the game 24-22. Players of the match were Aleisha Devine for Scallywags and Kristi Grant for Kinetics.
