Scallywags 23 V 35 Unst
Unst took the first centre pass. After competitive end-to-end play between both teams fighting hard for the first goal, Naomi Brown secured the first goal of the match for Unst. Scallywags were quick off the mark to equalise with a great shot from Erin Leask. Linda Thomson and Lisa Johnson defended well in the shooting circle making it difficult for the Scallywags shooters. Great shooting from Unst saw them pull ahead into the lead at 13-4.
Scallywags fought back in the second quarter opening with a great interception from defender Ami Maddison. Followed by three quick goals in a row from Anne-Marie Robinson and Erin Leask to pull Scallywags back into the game. Fast strong passes through the Unst mid court between Ashley Symington and Ailidh Risk pushed Scallywags hard to get the interceptions. Scallywags mid court Anne Leask, Rowan Nicolson and Chloe McLeod worked well together making great interceptions, forcing the ball up the court to the shooting circle. Scallywags pulled the game back to 16-14 after a strong second quarter.
Scallywags opened the third quarter, both teams remaining unchanged. After three minutes of quick end-to-end play from both teams Scallywags then scored the first goal. Accurate shooting from Naomi Brown and Erin Spence gained three goals in a row for Unst. Excellent defending from Scallywags Ami Maddison and Ella Robertson who made several interceptions. Unst continued to push ahead, strong passes between Ailidh Risk and Ashley Symington in mid court quickly reached the Unst shooting circle. Unst put pressure on Scallywags turning over goals and impressive shooting put Unst further ahead at 27-18.
Jenna Moar came on at centre opening the fourth quarter for Scallywags with a centre pass, Scallywags scored the first goal. Further great shooting from Naomi Brown and Erin Spence for Unst widened their lead. Strong defending from Martha Moar and Linda Thomson kept the pressure on Scallywags until the final whistle. After a well fought match the game ended 35-23 to Unst. Players of the Match were Naomi Brown for Unst and Anne Leask for Scallywags.
