Wastside won the first centre of the game, which saw Kirsty Thompson C and Julie Crossan WA linking up well together in mid court, to fed their passes into their shooters of Mhari Drozdowska GA and Catherine Henry GS who in turn were being closely marked by Scallywags, Heidi Eriksen GD and Mara Duncan GK.  As play progressed, both teams settled well with great end to end play but it was the accurate shooting of Scallywags duo Robinson and Devine that saw then finish the quarter 8-6.

The second quarter started with Rowan Nicolson C taking the centre pass for Scallywags and with Julia Johnston WA linking up well with Nicolson, they soon found their passes into their shooters who were quick to secure the first goal of this quarter.  With quick centre passes from both sides, goal for goal was being scored but it was Scallywags who managed to maintain their lead and this saw them go into the third quarter leading 17-13.

The third quarter saw Wastside making a few changes to their team whilst Scallywags remained the same.  This worked in their favour and Scallywags were forced to up their game play.  With great play from Wastside, they were finding that their shooters of Henry GA and Isla Moffat GS were on form and rarely missing.  At the other end Scallywags were also finding their shots on target despite being closely marked by Wastside’s Sarah Sandison GK and Pauline Walterson GD.  Scallywags just managed to keep their led and this saw them go into the last quarter 25-22.

With Scallywags just leading by 3 points, they knew they could not afford to make any mistakes in this last quarter.  This was quite a frantic fast paced last quarter with both teams fighting hard for every pass, rebound and interception so that they could get the ball into their shooters, who again were all on form.  With Wastside being the slightly stronger of the teams, they were scoring goal for goal and soon caught up with Scallywags.  Scallywags fought hard to the end and as the full time whistle went saw them win the game 32-31.

Players of the match were awarded to Scallywags Anne Leask and Pauline Walterson for Wastside.
