Tulloch Tornadoes 33 v 50 Loungers
The game started with end to end play. Loungers taking an early lead with strong linking play in attack and accurate shooting from Ava Johnston (GA) and Kaitlin Leslie (GS). Tullochs took longer to settle but managed to pick up loose balls throughout the court, Ruth Anderson (GD) was working hard in the defensive circle in her debut match for Tullochs. The first quarter finishing 8-11 to Loungers.
With a tight margin between the teams the same close play continued going into second quarter again, both teams battling for each pass and marking well throughout the court. The Loungers defence of Louise Moar (GK) and Vicki Smith (GD) communicated well in the circle to block space meaning the shooters for Tullochs Emma Sandison (GA) and Tahnae Maclennan (GS) were forced to use support from circle edge to work the ball in. Loungers demonstrated good patience and calm feeds into their shooting circle. Therefore maintaining their lead at half time 17-22 to Loungers.
Going into third quarter Loungers took control of the game, picking up interceptions and converting them into goals. The Tullochs defence of Cameron Johnston (GD) and Ruth Anderson (GK) worked tirelessly, getting a few valuable tips, unsettling the shooters who were having to reposition themselves to get a shot on goal. Despite this Loungers pulled ahead 34-26 in this quarter.
Loungers continued to have the momentum in this final quarter despite having only 7 players and no substitutes. They demonstrated good timing of movement and flow throughout the court when in possession of the ball. Hazel Johnson (WA) of Loungers providing good supporting play on the circle edge and the shooters finding good space despite the hard work of the Tullochs defence to disrupt their movement. This meant that the game finished 50-33 to Loungers. Players of the match were Kaitlin Leslie for Loungers and Ruth Anderson for Tullochs.
