Tulloch Tornadoes 62 V 40 Loungers
From the first quarter, it was clear this was going to be a very fast paced match. Good turnovers from both teams kept the match competitive. Strong defence from Tulloch’s Emma Leask and Kristen Marie made it difficult for Loungers, they were reading the game well and picking up any loose balls. Excellent support around the Loungers circle and valuable passes from Jessica Turnbull and Vicki Smith of Loungers helped shooters Kaitlin Leslie and Ava Johnson to work well in a very defensive third. Their accurate shooting kept the scores close, ending the first quarter 18-9 in Tulloch’s favour.
Tulloch’s attackers worked well up the court the whole match, seeing quick passes into the circle. This helped the shooters Tahlia Leslie and Kirsti Leask receive some great balls and take some impressive shots. Loungers defence were sticking tight and putting lots of pressure onto the shooters , but Tulloch’s were able to link well and maintain their lead with the second quarter ending 33-19 to Tulloch’s.
The 3rd quarter saw some great end to end play, making the mid court work hard to keep the pace going. Competitive from Loungers defensive half saw a lot of great turnovers and good support moving up and down the court, but Tulloch’s mid court of Cameron Johnson, Claire Morris and Allie Elphinstone worked tirelessly, helping to extend the lead for Tulloch’s going into the last quarter. Tullochs still in the lead with the scores sitting at 46-30.
The last quarter saw changes in defence for Loungers with Vicki Smith coming on as GD to support Louise Moar within the defensive circle, but Tulloch’s attack was strong and linked well up the court, with any interception making it straight to the shooters, allowing them to extend their lead. The final score ending 62-40 to Tulloch’s. The player of the match for Tulloch’s was Kirsti Leask and Vicki Smith for Loungers
