Tullochs 36 vs Loungers 42

Both teams knew this was going to be a closely contested match right from the first whistle. At centre for Tullochs was Claire Morris who helped control the play up the court and provided some accurate feeding into the circle to shooters Tahnae MacLennan and Kirsti Leask. Loungers defenders Jennifer Thomson and Louise Moar weren’t making it easy for the Tullochs shooters though and were using their height to their advantage. Tullochs worked hard though and finished 1 point ahead in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw a change for Loungers with Louise Birnie coming on at WD for Beth Mouat. The fresh change in legs saw Loungers get a few more turnovers which their shooters Ava Johnston and Stella Oldbury converted to goal. Clare Farmer who was playing at GD slightly out of her normal position had a great game and put the pressure on the Loungers attack which meant they had to work the ball around the circle a number of times before getting to shoot. The second quarter finished 18-20 in favour of Loungers.

Loungers continued their momentum in the third quarter but Tullochs kept challenging them for the ball. Both Debbie Henry and Megan Keppie at WA and WD respectively worked tirelessly in the mid court putting pressure on the Loungers attack which helped to slow down the play into the shooting circle. This helped Tullochs gain some well-timed interceptions in defence. The third quarter finished 26-34 to Loungers.

Tulloch’s Emma Leask moved from GK to GD in the last quarter which changed up the play a little bit and slowed the Loungers flow for a while. This allowed Tullochs to score some more goals and Kirsti Leask at GS shot some lovely long range shots. Vicki Smith at centre for Loungers never gave up and managed to gain Loungers some interceptions and helped feed the ball into the circle finding the gaps in Tullochs defence. The game finished 36-42 to Loungers. Players of the match were Jennifer Thomson for Loungers and Emma Leask for Tullochs.
