Tullochs 46 V 40 Ness

Tullochs 46 V 40 Ness

The game started with end to end play. Tulloch’s took an early lead with strong linking play in attack and accurate shooting from Tahlia Leslie (GA) and Emma Sandison (GS). Ness came back fighting though and were managing to pick up loose balls throughout the court with some nice intercepts from Michaela Christie at (GK). The first quarter finished 13-9 to Tullochs.

With a tight margin between the teams the same close play continued going into second quarter again, both teams battling for each pass and marking well throughout the court. Tullochs defence of Emma Leask (GK) and Ruth Anderson (GD) communicated well in the circle to block space meaning the shooters for Ness, Sarah Kidsick (GA) and Estella Smith (GS) were forced to use support from circle edge to work the ball in. The shooters remained un-phased however and netted some nice long range shots. Tullochs just managed to maintain their lead at half time with 21-18.

Going into third quarter Tullochs took control of the game, picking up interceptions and converting them into goals with the help of midcourt Lori Smith (C) and Kirsten Henry (WD) bringing the ball up the court. Ness continued to keep their pressure on though and didn’t give up with Aimee Budge (C) giving it her all. Despite this Tullochs pulled ahead 38-29 in this quarter.

The last quarter saw Ness really change gear and showed great determination to bring the score line closer. Sonja Kurtz (WA) used her speed to gain some valuable turnovers for Ness and they began to close the gap. Tulloch’s kept their cool though and got their shots in when needed despite increased pressure from Ruth Christie (GK) in the circle. Ness fought hard and brought the score to within 6 goals but it wasn’t quite enough and Tullochs took the win 46-40. Players of the match were Estella Smith for Ness and Emma Sandison for Tullochs.
