Unst 34 V 34 AHS

Both teams started strong with precision shooting from Erin Spence (GA) for Unst and Sadie Fox (GA) for AHS. Quick centre court play allowed Unst to gain a few goals on AHS, and forcing the AHS defenders to work hard. AHS defense kept the pressure on the Unst shooting circle but Claire Priest’s (GS) long range shooting gave Unst the edge. The first quarter ended 10-8 to Unst.

AHS came into the second quarter with much determination to take back the lead. Cara Mongomery at C was moving the ball well and linking with Fox (GA) and Jules Jarmson (WA).  Ailidh Risk was defending tightly for Unst and caused AHS to keeping passing around the circle to feed the ball into their Shooters. Despite Ailidh intercepting some passes, AHS kept the pressure up in the Unst shooting circle allowing AHS to convert play in their favour. At half time it was AHS who had a 2 point advantage 17-19 .

Unst started well in the second half but AHS were not willing to give up their lead, AHS (GK) Jess Fraser was intercepting any loose passes and keeping pressure on the Unst shooters. Priest used her experience and working with Spence (GA) they kept their head to help level the score, with the 3rd quarter ending 26-26.

With everything to play for the in last quarter both teams dug deep and centre passes were quickly converted into goals. Unst and AHS kept possession at centres and each team worked tirelessly to try and intercept and draw ahead. Neither team could make that illusive turnover and the match ended in a draw 34 -34. Players of the match were Ailidh Risk for Unst and Cara Montgomery for AHS.
