Yell had the first centre pass and settled into the game quickly. They made some good interceptions and were passing the ball accurately up the court to their shooters who rarely missed a shot. They look the lead in the first quarter which ended 11 – 6 to Yell.

Wastside came on in the second quarter determined to close the gap. Their centre court players worked hard to intercept the ball and feed it into the circle to the GA and GS. Wastside managed to score more goals than Yell but it wasn’t enough to take the lead as the quarter ended 16-12 to Yell.

During the third quarter Wastside had a good run of goals helping to close the gap between the two teams. Defenders at both ends of the court worked hard to get as many rebounds as they could and to pass the ball back up the court to their players. Yell continued their lead with the quarter ending 23-20.

It was all to play for in the final quarter with both teams determine to win the game. Accurate shooting from Yell meant that they hardly missed a shot and gradually pulled further ahead. The Wastside players didn’t give up and continued to fight until the last whistle, however it wasn’t enough to win the game as it ended 36-26 to Yell. Players of the match were Jasmine Lawson for Yell and Ashley Hunter for Wastside.
