Scallywags started the game with only 6 players so Wastside used this to their advantage and took an early lead. Scallywags had made the decision to play without a WA so Wastside’s WD Bronwyn Walterson was free to accept passes and proved to be a key link to shooters Catherine Henry and Mairi Drozdowska.  Wastside continued the lead and the first quarter finished 17 – 6 in their favour.

Both teams came on fighting in the second quarter. Scallywags shooters Annemarie Robinson and Aleisha Devine worked well together in the circle hardly missing a shot. Wastside continued to play strongly and held the lead throughout with the second quarter ending 29 – 19 to them.

A seventh player, Caitlin Ward, arrived for Scallywags so they were able to play the second half of the game with a full team. This boosted their determination and they fought hard to close the gap. Jodie Walterson came on at GA for Wastside and linked well with GS Isla Moffat. They displayed some excellent shooting and the third quarter ended 43 – 26 to Wastside.

The fourth quarter was goal for goal. Both teams played well and battled for every interception. Wastside proved to be the stronger team and won the game 54 – 38.

Players of the match were Kirsty Thomson for Wastside and Rowan Nicolson for Scallywags.
