Whalsay 18 V 35 Kiwis
Kiwis started the game well, gaining an early lead with accurate shooting by Rhianne Colvin. However Whalsay settled their play, and began to close the gap. Natalie Constable and Lara Kay in defence for Whalsay got a few crucial touches to interrupt play but the first quarter ended 8-5 in Kiwis favour.
Kiwis started the second quarter confidently, extending their lead with tight defending from Natasha Tulloch And Maisie Unsworth making it difficult for the Whalsay shooters. The Kiwis defenders linked well with Sanna Aitken (WA) and Emma Niven (C) to quickly bring the ball up court to their shooters.
Whalsay never gave up and made several changes throughout the second half. Kiwis defence applied the pressure towards the end of the game which caused Whalsay to make unforced errors and gave Kiwis a further lead. Strong shooting from Colvin and Dawn Manson was evident and continued throughout the match. The final score was 35-18 to Kiwis. Players of the match were Rhianne Colvin for Kiwis and for Natalie Constable for Whalsay.
