Whalsay 38 v 22 Filsket

Whalsay 38 v 22 Filsket

Whalsay won the first centre pass but SFC Filsket intercepted and converted to secure the first goal of the match. Filsket continued well from the whistle with precision shooting from Lisa Emslie (GA). The Filsket defence made it tough for the Whalsay shooters with great interceptions from Kayti Jeromson (GD) and Kristen Jeromson (GK) ensuring all loose balls were picked up and sent up court. The first quarter ended 13-1 to SFC Filsket.

The second quarter carried on much the same on Filsket’s part. Emslie continued with her accurate, long range shooting with good support from Brooke Leslie but the Whalsay defence weren’t making it easy for them. Whalsay GA Louise Johnson found her rhythm and began to fire in her shots. The second quarter ended 22-7 to Filsket.

The third quarter saw Filsket make some changes with Holly Anderson coming on to GS, Leslie continued at GA and Ailee Burgess to WA. In defence Sarah Kay moving into the circle and Kayti Jeromson to WD. Whalsay capitalised on these changes and had a great quarter. A great display in defence from mother and daughter duo of Natalie (GD) and Rhianna Constable (GK), mid court played well to get the ball from defence through court to the shooters. Johnson was now rarely missing a shot for Whalsay. Was an almighty comeback on the cards?! Whalsay scored 12 goals to Filsket’s 4. Moving into the third quarter Filsket held onto the lead 25-18.

Emslie returned on court for the final quarter and extended Filsket’s lead. Whalsay worked tirelessly throughout the last quarter and Rhiana Constable moved to GD and provided great support mid court for her team. The final score was 38-22 to SFC Filsket.  Players of the match were Louise Johnson for Whalsay and Kristen Jeromson was SFC Filsket.
