Yell 35 V 29 Johnson Jaguars
Yell won the toss and took first centre. In the very beginning it was a goal for goal game. This ended when Johnson Jaugars eased into some excellent defending and brought out their clear strong attack to end the 1st quarter 9-6 to the away team.
Yell made some changes to their team and with Johnson Jaguars taking this first centre there was a clear spring in Yells step to bring back the goals. Both sides were holding their own and putting in pressure which saw some good interceptions taking the play. Johnson jaguars continued to show their strong shooting from both GA and GS, but Yells tight marking meant they made it to half time with still only a 3 goal difference in favour of Johnson Jaguars, 17-14.
In the third quarter it was clear that both teams were giving their all, with strong defending demonstrated from both sides. However Yell were determined to bring it back and despite the excellent defending of Johnson Jaguars, Carly Smith (GS) never missed a shot. This helped close the gap right down to a 24 all draw moving into the final quarter.
The final quarter was all to play for and both teams certainly went in fighting, both teams continued to fight for the ball right to the end with more powerful interceptions and excellent shots from both sides. However, Yell seemed to gain some edge and managed to keep the goals coming with a final score of 35-29 to Yell. Players of the match were awarded to Lori-Ann Thomson for Yell and Sophie MorrisĀ for Johnson Jaguars.
