Rules

1. ENTRY TO S.L.N.A. LEAGUES

Any team wishing to compete in the S.L.N.A. leagues held before Christmas must be represented at the Annual General Meeting and submit their Team Registration Forms by the date set by the Committee.

A second entry date will be set by the Committee for any team who has not competed in the leagues held before Christmas, but wish to compete in the S.L.N.A. leagues held after Christmas.

2. S.N.L.A. MATCH RULES

All matches played within the control of the S.L.N.A. shall be in accordance with the conditions, rules and regulation of the Scottish Netball Association.

3. CANCELLATION OF S.N.L.A. LEAGUE MATCHES

A team must have a minimum of five players on court to compete. If a team cannot field at least five players then the match should be cancelled. A team representative from the cancelling team must advise by telephone the opponent team captain, the umpires, Fixtures Secretary and Press Secretary no later than 24 hours prior to the match. The exception to this cancellation rule is where a match cannot take place due to adverse weather conditions or exceptional circumstances. The cancelling team concede the points for the match. Match fees for the cancelled match remain payable by both teams. A fine of £20 will be imposed on any team who cancels a match after 1pm on the day of the match.

4. DURATION OF S.N.L.A. LEAGUE MATCHES

The duration of each S.L.N.A. league match shall be approximately twelve to fifteen minutes each quarter with one minutes break after the first and third quarters and two minutes break at half time. Team captains must agree any variation to this with the umpires before the match begins.

5. COST OF S.N.L.A LEAGUE MATCHES

Each team must pay £61 per match. The Treasurer will send out invoices to a representative of every affiliated team during each half of the season. Payment for the first half of the season must be received before the start of the second half of the season. Payment for the second half of the season must be received before the end of the season. Non-payment by the set deadline may result in teams being suspended from playing in S.N.L.A. league matches.

6. REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS

Each team shall provide the Fixtures Secretary with a Team Registration Form listing their players by the appropriate entry date. A copy of the Team Registration Form will be passed to the Secretary.

7. TEAM REPRESENTATIVE

Each team shall nominate a Team Representative to receive all information regarding S.L.N.A. activities and provide the Fixtures Secretary with a Team Representative Contact Details Form by the appropriate entry date. A copy of the Team Representative Contact Details Form will be passed to the Secretary. Each Team Representative must provide an e-mail and postal address for receiving S.L.N.A. information.

8. MEMBERSHIP FEES

The cost of becoming a member of the S.N.L.A. is:-

Adults £20.00

Juniors or those in full time education £10.00

To qualify as a junior the player must be under 18 years old at the start of the S.N.L.A. league.

9. TRANSFER OF PLAYERS

9.1 The transfer of players from one team to another can only be achieved by the player first informing her team captain that she no longer intends to play for that team and then approaching other teams in the S.N.L.A. league informing them that she is available for transfer.

9.2 All player transfers to different teams must be advised to the Secretary and the transfer is effected by completion of a new registration form, which must be submitted to the Secretary.

9.3 All player transfers can only take place at the end of a S.N.L.A. League.

9.4 Players are entitled to play for any team during one day tournaments and competitions.

10. MATCH OFFICIALS

10.1 Each team is responsible for providing two umpires. The Fixtures Secretary will then arrange for two umpires to referee each match.

10.2 Umpires failing to turn up or arrange a replacement may be suspended from playing for their team in the following week’s match.

10.3 Only one umpire may referee a match if both teams competing agree.

10.4 Each team must provide a scorer/timekeeper for all their matches. Only one scorer / timekeeper can be used if both teams competing agree.

10.5 Umpires are responsible for keeping their own records regarding the number of matches they have officiated at. Umpires must confirm the number of matches they have officiated at to the Treasurer by the date set by the Committee.

10.6 Umpires will receive payment for each match they have officiated at on the following basis:-

C Grade Umpires (and above) £10.00 per match

Unqualified Umpires £ 7.00 per match

11. PRESS REPORTS

11.1 The Home Team for each match is responsible for submitting a Match Report to the Press Secretary. The Press Report must be submitted to the Press Secretary in accordance with the arrangements agreed at the Annual General Meeting or set by the Committee.

11.2 Each Press Report must contain a brief description of the match, the Players of the Match and the names of the two umpires.

11.3 Any team failing to submit a Match Report will be fined £10.00.

12. DISCIPLINE

12.1 Match discipline will be in accordance with the rules of the Scottish Netball Association.

12.2 Any player dismissed from a game can appeal in writing to the S.N.L.A. Secretary who will call a committee meeting to deal with the matter. The player appealing her dismissal is entitled to attend the committee meeting.

12.3 Any S.N.L.A. member not adhering to the Scottish Netball Association rules can be reported in writing to the S.N.L.A. Secretary who will call a committee meeting to deal with the matter. The player complained of and those submitting the complaint will be entitled to attend the committee meeting.

13. DISPUTES

The Secretary shall, initially, attempt to resolve any disputes between teams. Teams or individual members of the S.N.L.A. have the right to appeal to the S.N.L.A. committee regarding any dispute or grievance they may have. Any dispute or grievance must be submitted in writing to the S.N.L.A. Secretary who will call a committee meeting to deal with the matter. Those involved in the dispute will be entitled to attend the committee meeting.

These Rules were adopted as being the Rules of the Shetland Ladies Netball Association at an Annual General Meeting on the Twelfth day of May in the year Two Thousand and Ten.
