Unst took to the court ready to take the match on and opened the scoring with a run of goals by Erin Spence at GA. Dannielle Witt and Lottie Thomson playing in defence for Unst were dominating the circle, putting pressure on the McEwans shooters and kept their shooting opportunities at a minimum. The first quarter ended 13 – 6 to Unst.

Moving into the 2nd quarter McEwans made no changes and kept their team set up the same. Bryanie Thomson came on for Unst at WD and helped the young Unst side further their lead. Brenna Irvine playing at GD took on the challenge for McEwans of containing Spence and trying to limit her shooting opportunities. This was a good battle with both players competing for every ball. Unst pushed ahead and maintaining a healthy lead at half time, 24 – 11.

The 2nd half saw McEwans come out and begin to increase the defensive pressure on the Unst shooters and a strong performance from Ellie Sutherland at GK kept her side in the game. Kerry Laurenson replaced Marie Leask at GS for Unst and worked well with Spence to keep the goals coming. Unst had their highest scoring quarter of the match going into the final quarter 35-16 ahead.

The final quarter was played with the same level of determination from both sides. Cara Montgomery and Claire Laurenson continued to work hard in the centre court at C for their teams and were making some crucial interceptions to turn over the ball. Accurate shooting from Mhairi Goodlad, converted these chances for McEwans. The match ended 46 – 21 with an excellent team performance from Unst to take the win. Players of the match were Erin Spence for Unst and Ellie Sutherland for McEwans.
