Challengers 51 V 16 Dutch Courage
The game started quietly with both teams finding their feet. Challengers first few centre passes went smoothly into their circle with GA Valerie Sales and GS Aimee Strachan finding the net. Dutch Courage had to work hard to find their players, Alexis Jamieson C and Anja Leslie WA linked well to support their shooters. Challengers defenders Amy Pearson GK and Abbey Irvine GD made plenty interceptions and quickly moved the ball up the court to the shooters meaning they finished the quarter with a strong lead of 14 – 3.
The second quarter saw Challengers continue on with strong play. Quick centre court passing from Sarah Groat C and Holly Jamieson WA moved the ball up the court. Dutch Courage defenders Sonja Jamieson GD and Vanessa Mainland GK work tirelessly around the circle with Nia McLean WD to stop the ball from entering the circle but accurate passing from Challengers into the shooters made this difficult. The half time score was 27 – 5.
The third quarter saw a few changes made to both teams. Dutch Courage continued to fight, GA Cerys Harrop moved well around the circle and got in some good shots. Evie Williamson came on C for Challengers making some good interceptions in the centre court. With Challengers making good interceptions, quick passing and accurate shooting they managed to increase their lead to 40-10
The last quarter saw Dutch Courage continue to fight and make things more difficult for Challengers with their defence putting the pressure on. DC’s Carla Johnson C worked well to move the ball up towards their shooters but Challengers defenders kept the ball away from the net. The game finished 51-16.
