Delting 22 V 50 Unst
Unst won the first centre and made very strong connections up the court to the shooters. Both teams fought hard up and down the court with solid interceptions from Unst GD Dannielle Witt. Delting WA Lynsey Johnson and C Ashley Hay worked together well to bring the play up court to Delting GA and GS giving them good opportunities. The first quarter ended 9-6 Unst.
The second quarter saw Unst mid court working the ball very quickly up the court and into the shooting circle, where there was super circle work from GS Claire Priest and GA Erin Spence, reading each others play very well, but Delting GK Nicola Robertson was quick on the interceptions. Delting’s GA Erin Hunter and GS Lara White ended the quarter with some on point shooting, with the quarter ending 29-12 Unst.
The third quarter saw Unst’s GA Erin Spence push hard and get a huge lead for Unst with her impeccable shooting. Delting’s WA Clair Smith and WD Holly Stephen pushed hard throughout the mid court and linked well together with (C) Johnson to get the ball towards the shooting circle. Unst again showing off some superb teamwork within the circle between Spence (GA) and Priest (GS) to end the quarter 43-18 Unst.
Delting got off to a strong start in the final quarter with some very clean shots from Hunter (GA) and White (GS) but Unst’s GK Lisa smith fought hard on the interceptions. Unst displayed some very key communication throughout this quarter and played fast through the mid court with C Irena Polson showing some incredible agility, with the very enjoyable game ending 22-50 to Unst. Players of the match were Dannielle Witt for Unst and Erin Hunter for Delting.
