Johnson Jaguars 18 V 33 Unst

The game started off very slow and steady with both teams settling and having quite an equal start. Jags C Krissi Sandison and Unst C Ashley Symington were battling to get the ball to each of their attacking ends. Jags GA Sophie Morris ensured she drove in for every ball she could making it a battle for Unst GD Linda Thomson. Despite this, Linda Thomson and Unst GK Ailidh Risk used their strength to ensure Jaguars had little opportunity to get under the post and the first quarter finished 3-5 to Unst.

The second quarter saw only one change with Jaguars swapping Chloe Jamieson and Kayleigh Young within the team. Kayleigh now at WD for Jags supported the midcourt well, helping WA Jemima Budge who was up against a tough opponent Martha Moar, WD for Unst. Unst GA Erin Spence used her youth, skill and fitness levels in every opportunity and with support from Marie Leask at GS for Unst they worked well together getting a good lead, finishing the quarter 8-16 to Unst.

The third quarter saw a few changes for Unst with newlywed Lauren Farren coming on as GS and Claire Laurenson coming on as WA, Chelsea Jamieson took on C too. Jaguars were starting to tire and were struggling with having no subs. Despite this Freya Leslie at GD for Jaguars showed her strength in the mid court as well as defence helping Jaguars keep the gap steady and not stretch too far behind. Erin Spence GA and Lauren Farren GS for Unst showed excellent teamwork and despite all efforts from Freya Leslie and Kayleigh Young defending the quarter ended 14-25 to Unst.

The last quarter saw the Laurenson Lasses coming on for Unst at C and WA. Jaguars GA Sophie Morris again ensured she made herself available as much as possible and she was able to lead the ball into Rachel Young at GS with both managing to get some very impressive goals. Unst WD Naomi Brown and Jaguars WA Jemima Budge battled the mid court for some space and any interceptions possible. The quarter finished with an Unst win at 18-33.
