Johnson Jaguars 26 V 36 Yell
Jaguars settled on court quicker than Yell with Centre Krissi Sandison working well with WA Abby Harcus to get the ball to shooters Rachel Young and Sophie Morris. Yell Defence Lesley Strachan and Ingrid Nicol tried hard to intercept but Johnson Jaguars shooters rarely missed a shot and took an early lead with the first quarter finishing 11-3.
In quarter 2 Yell came on the court keen to close the gap with defence Lesley Strachan working well to intercept passes to drive the ball up the court with the help of Amber Inkster and Sandra Petrie in the mid court and then onto shooters Martha Colclough and Stephanie Keith. However, Johnson Jaguars defence team of Freya Leslie, Chloe Jamieson and Kayleigh Young worked well together to intercept and get the ball back up to their net. They maintained their lead with the second quarter finishing 20 – 8.
Both teams started tiring in the third quarter but Yells Sandra Petrie was working tirelessly to get the ball to their shooters. Johnson’s Jaguars WA Abby Harcus and Centre Caitlin Munro were quick to intercept passes and get into spaces to help the team move the ball up the court to their net but Yells Kerry Nicholson put pressure on Rachel Young and Sophie Morris and got many rebounds. With end to end goals the gap was closing but Johnson Jaguars still kept the lead with 28-17.
Johnsons Jaguars were determined to keep the lead in the final quarter but Yell were putting pressure on the team. Yells Midcourt Amber Inkster and Ingrid Nicol working very well together to get the ball up to shooters Carly Smith and Stephanie Keith. Johnsons Jaguars defence team still intercepting passes and getting rebounds to pass the ball up the court. Krissi Sandison, Caitlin Munro, Rachel Young and Sophie Morris showed excellent team work to get the ball round Yells Defence Kerry Nicholson and Malin Leslie. Johnson Jaguars went on to win the game 36- 26. Players of the match were Freya Leslie for Johnson Jaguars and Kerry Nicholson for Yell.
