Kiwis 30 V 34 Tulloch Tornadoes
With the league coming to a close, this was a game both needed to win. Kiwis took longer to settle into the fast paced game. Marie Clark made a welcome return at GS adding a new dynamic in the shooting circle with Dawn Manson at GA. Emma Leask and Hannah Robertson of Tulloch’s defence took some great interceptions, allowing them a lead of 10 – 5 at the first break.
Kiwis with Kylie at C, had to work hard to keep composure and play at our tempo linking in defence of Kim Johnson & Maisie Unsworth, who were being made to work hard in the circle. Tahlia Leslie and Tahnae Maclennan shot very well with super movement in the circle creating a 6 goal difference in Tulloch’s favour at half time.
Knowing they needed to step it up, Kiwis worked hard with great connections between mid court of Holly King WD, Sanna Onhaus WA and Libby Fox C carrying the ball out from defence & better patience feeding balls into the shooters. Kiwis pulled it back to a draw but Tulloch’s went into the last break 24-23 up.
Last quarter was all to play for, the game never slowed with great play and shooting by both teams. Tulloch’s edged ahead in the last few minutes after being goal for goal. Ending 34-30 to Tulloch’s.
