Tulloch Tornadoes 52 V 44 Shetland Juniors
Both teams got off to a fast start in the first quarter with strong slick passing keeping the first 6 goals of the game even. Solid defence from Astri Balfour and Ella Johnson allowed Tullochs to break and turn over a few balls, taking the lead in the first quarter with brilliant shooting from GA Claire Thomason and GS Emma Sandison.
Shetland Juniors kept pressing with solid attacking play from Jules Jarmson and Evie Williamson. Tullochs’ Ruth Anderson and Astri Balfour kept a solid defence but excellent shooting by Sadie Fox and Josie Smith helped Juniors to keep the score very close with Tullochs only a few goals up at the end of the second quarter.
Into the third quarter and Tullochs attacking play remained strong with C Lori Smith and WA Allie Elphinstone feeding well into the circle. Juniors defence Kaitlyn Johnson and Annie Mowat defended tightly not making things easy for Tullochs but accurate shooting from Thomason and Sandison saw Tullochs keep the lead at the end of the third quarter.
Shetland Juniors continued to fight for every ball with great defence right up the court and some crucial interceptions by Annie Mowat. Strong passing up the court from Ava Williams, Clare Smith and Kirsten Henry allowed Tullochs to increase the lead in the fourth quarter and secure the win. The game ended 52-44 to Tullochs, with players of the match Annie Mowat for Shetland Juniors and Astri Balfour for Tullochs.
