Whalsay 40 V 30 SFC Filsket
Filsket got the first centre pass so pressure was on Whalsay to get the first steal of the game. Whalsay’s defence Lynsey Irvine and Leanne Jamieson worked well to zone out Filsket’s attacking play. This helped Whalsay take an early lead with the quarter ending 14-4.
Whalsay continued to dominate the game in the second quarter. In centre court, Whalsay’s Marie Anderson and Irena Polson worked well to feed the ball into the shooters. With excellent movement, teamwork and accurate shooting from Ellie Sandison and Karis Leask, Whalsay maintained their lead. The quarter ended 24-11.
The third quarter started with a few changes made from both teams. This worked well for Filsket’s defence Kayti and Kristen Jeromson as they read the game well, worked hard together and made numerous interceptions. At the other end of the court, Filsket’s shooters Brooke Leslie and Lisa Emslie were rarely missing, this led to them narrowing the goal difference.
In the final quarter, both teams were tiring after a hard fought game. Play was very end-to-end and the game ended 40-30 to Whalsay. POMS were Kayti Jeromson for Filsket and Leanna Jamieson for Whalsay.
