Wastside won the toss so took the first centre of the game, an early foul by Wastside allowed Yell to take the opening goal of the game. Play was end to end as the shooters for both sides warmed into the game, leading to a low scoring quarter.
A faster paced quarter as both sides settled into the game. GK Kerry Nicholson defended well for Yell but Erin Morrison’s shooting was on target. GD Bronwyn Walterson made good movement up the court for Wastside allowing them to keep their lead at half time 8 – 14.
The third quarter saw good interceptions from both teams resulting in end to end play an few goals being scored. Yell’s defence worked hard to keep Wastside’s shooters from scoring but they worked the circle well and kept the lead 13-18.
Determined play from both teams in the last quarter resulted in goal for goal for a period of time. Yell fought hard to close the gap in the Score with GD Lesley Strachan and WD Denise MacBeath working hard around the circle to keep Wastside GA Mhari Drozdowska out. But Wastside managed to hang on to their lead to make the final score 18 – 20. Players of the match were Kerry Nicholson for Yell and Erin Morrison for Wastside.
