Yell 31 V 21 Scallywags
Yell took advantage of the first centre pass and opened scoring with the first goal. Even play saw each centre pass ending in goals for each team but Yells defenders, Lesley Strachan (GD) and Kerry Nicholson (GK) kept Scallywags shooters from scoring taking the lead 6-5.
The second quarter started goal for goal with strong passing between Scallywags. Their WA, Anne Leask and C, Rowan Nicolson worked well together trying to get back that goal difference but with some good interceptions from Yells defence and strong shooting from Stephanie Keith (GA) and Martha Colclough (GS) Yell kept the lead, ending the quarter 13-11 to Yell.
The third quarter saw some good circle work from Scallywags, putting pressure on the Yell shooters but Yells GA was able to catch rebounds and help keep the lead. Scallywags C, Ami Maddison, had some great interceptions and WD, Rowan Nicolson, linked well to get the ball back up the court. Yells defence worked hard to keep the shooters out resulting in interceptions and furthering their lead to 22-16.
The final quarter saw some great interceptions form Scallywags GK, Judy Hamar but Yell’s GS Martha Colclough had some good rebounds around the hoop. Between that and Yells strong defence not allowing Scallywags many chances in the circle Yell took a further lead ending a great game 31-21.
