Hotfooters 25 V Unst 29

It took three full minutes for the teams to settle before GS Shaina Douglas opened the scoring for Hotfooters. Then the game was on and well matched play from both teams saw goal for goal being scored with Marie Robertson Unst GS netting consistently to produce a close first quarter score of 6-5 to the Isles team.

In the second quarter Hotfooters GK Ellie Bisset made some great interceptions in the circle to turn the game around for her team and open the scoring.  However, Unst’s fierce attacking saw the ball consistently driven up the court where spectacular long shots from both Robertson and GA Chelsea Jamieson increased their lead to five points.

The third quarter saw Unst defenders Ashley Symington and Shona Johnson make life very difficult for the Hotfooters shooters. Hotfooters GD Tabitha Johnson and GK Kirstin Grant made it harder still at the other end of the court though, preventing Unst from scoring all but one goal and allowing Hotfooters to take the lead for the first time 19-18.

Hardworking Unst Centre Irena Polson twice intercepted centre passes and great communication with WA Jade Stevenson saw the ball driven up the court and repeatedly forced errors from the younger Hotfooters team.  Hotfooters fought back hard in the last five minutes though and closed the gap to four points.  Final score Hotfooters 25 – Unst 29.  Player of the match for Unst was Irena Polson and Hotfooters was Ella Robertson.
