Kinetics 30 V Loungers 47

The game opened with a quick goal from Vaila Hough (GS). This created a response from Loungers Ava Johnston (GS) moving very slickly around -finding the net in quick succession. What followed was a sequence of mid court interceptions with both teams eager to finish the 1st quarter ahead. Both sides seemed to find their stride early on with each centre pass converted into a goal. The teamwork of Louise Malcolmson (GD) and Ingrid Nicol (GK) proved vital for Kinetics as they were first to pull away after brilliant interceptions. Karen Bannister (C) stepped up for Loungers with her show of interceptions to give Loungers a narrow lead 11-10 to finish the 1st quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw Shannon Stevenson come on at GK for Kinetics and this change made passes into the Loungers shooters difficult. End to end play meant goals were in short supply for both sides initially. Hard work was required from mid court players Kristi Grant and Louise Fraser who worked tirelessly to push the play up to the Kinetics shooters. Loungers Kaitlin Leslie at GA maintained high-energy play this quarter and remained a constant threat. The half time score 16-22 to Loungers.

The 3rd quarter saw Loungers get 3 goals to kinetics 1 in the first 5 minutes. Good defence and rebounds in the Loungers circle from Louise Moar and Louise Birnie were making things hard for Kinetics. Ava Johnston was moving extremely well in the Loungers attacking circle and helped them to pull ahead by quite a lead, 22-35.

Kinetics made changes to their team in the final quarter. This proved a short boost for their team with fast and furious play.  Stevenson made even more interceptions and Kinetics had to work hard to gain any play. Loungers had settled into their game and proceeded to stretch their lead. The final score was 30-47. Players of the match were Shannon Stevenson kinetics and Karen Bannister for Loungers. Both teams would also like to wish Karen well as played her last game for Loungers.
