The game got off to a quick start with lots of end to end play and the teams appearing evenly matched. Kiwis shooting duo Rhianne Colvin at GS and Louise Jamieson at GA worked well together to secure the first quarter with a 2 goal lead.
Second quarter saw a few changes. Whalsay’s Lara Kay GS and Debbie Smith GA linked well with Catherine Williamson at C. Kiwis also linked well through the court via Libby Fox working tirelessly WA, extending their lead further at the end of the first half.
In the second half the game gained momentum with Kiwi’s dominating play. Whalsay fought hard to gain possession and were fortunate with strong team linking, capitalising on forced errors. Natalie Constable and Leanna Jamieson worked well together in the Whalsay defending circle to make it difficult for Kiwi’s shooters. Kiwi’s lead was too big for Whalsay to close the gap and the game ended 36-16. Player of the match were Rhianne Colvin for Kiwis and Leanna Jamieson for Whalsay.
